Looking for a last-minute prom dress? Here are popular prom looks and where to shop for dresses locally.
By Ellie Rothstein
After four years of school dances, one would think that finding the perfect outfit for senior prom would be a no brainer. However, dress shopping for prom has become the complete opposite. For the past three years, I’ve let school dances take me by surprise, with a busy spring schedule forcing me into a last-minute corner. Between homework and sports, I never had time to dedicate to seek out my perfect look. This year, I finally decided to get ahead of the game and dive head-first into the mess that prom shopping can be. From trendy to traditional, everyone is looking for something different. No matter your school’s take on prom, here are six looks perfect for prom 2019.
Classic
For a simple look, this deep purple gown stays true to prom with its long silhouette. The cutout details around the waist offer a flattering twist, modernizing the look and giving it more personality.
SHOP: Saks Fifth Avenue, $264
This dress takes on the sweeter side of prom, with a classic mid-length silhouette. The high-low detail at the bottom gives the dress a more modern hem, but the color and neckline stay elegant and simple.
SHOP: Neiman Marcus, $395
Trendy
For a more eye-catching look, these bright colors nod to neon, one of the hottest trends of the season. The bright pink and blue take a more bold approach to prom style, while the shorter lengths relax the looks.
SHOP: Intermix, $498
SHOP: Guys N Gals, $395
Modern
To stand out, jumpsuits and rompers offer a great option. While pants are typically considered more masculine, the ruffled straps on this jumpsuit give the look a feminine touch, perfect for prom.
SHOP: Intermix, $325
SHOP: Revolve, $98
